Cairns and District Family History Society has a research officer available to search the Society's resources and provide research for you.

Research Fees

$20.00 per hour plus a stamped self-addressed envelope. If a visit to a cemetery, or other library etc is required travelling expenses will also be incurred.

"Birth, Death and Marriage certificates are fine as long as the event was registered and the records were not destroyed. While trying to authenicate the birth of a many-great grandmother, I could not find any record of her birth.

Using C&DFHS resources, I was able to establish the year of her birth through the 1828 Census of New South Wales. I now had authenicated my data.

Further use of the library at C&DFHS told me about the flooding of the Hawkesbury River from time to time and the loss of many records. I now knew that to continue searching for the birth record would be to no avail. I could now move on to the next step in my research."
